Residents of Igbede community in Ogun State have decried over two decades of total blackout, expressing frustration over the impact of prolonged power outage on their lives and businesses.
According to the residents, the community has been without electricity for 21 years, a situation that has stifled development, forced businesses to shut down, and driven many residents away in search of better living conditions.
New settlers who moved into the area with hopes of improvement say they have never experienced power supply since arriving, joining long-time residents in lamenting years of darkness and neglect.
Despite multiple community efforts to raise funds and restore electricity, all attempts have failed, leaving the people in a continued state of despair.
The residents are now calling on the government to intervene urgently and provide a lasting solution to the crisis that has left the community underdeveloped and forgotten.
