Obaseki gives Edo CP seven days to apprehend killers of UNIBEN fresh graduate

The Edo State Government on Wednesday condemned the alleged rape and murder of Glory Adekolure, a recent graduate of the University of Benin.

The victim was reportedly attacked in Iyowa Community, Benin City, on Thursday, June 13, 2024.

A source indicated that the 22-year-old was on her way home after completing her clearance forms when she was waylaid, tortured, and raped to death by unidentified assailants.

Her body was later found near her mother’s house.

In a statement issued in Benin City, Chris Nehikhare, the Commissioner for Communications and Orientation, expressed shock and sadness over the incident.

“Governor Godwin Obaseki has ordered the Commissioner of Police, Funso Adegboye, to fish out the perpetrators of the evil act within the next seven days,” he said.
