Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has reminded Nigerian leaders that the task of nation-building is far from complete, stressing the need for continued dedication to the country’s development.
Obasanjo made the statement during the public presentation of the autobiography of former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, titled Being True to Myself, held at the NAF Conference Centre in Abuja.
Speaking at the event, the elder statesman urged Lamido and other political leaders not to retire yet, saying the journey to Nigeria’s progress is ongoing and requires their active participation.
“Nigeria that we are working for, we haven’t gotten there. And I believe it is the responsibility of each of us to ensure that we get there. Our job is not finished until we are finished,” Obasanjo said.
The book launch was attended by several prominent political figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.
