Adewinle sworn in as SWDC Federal Commissioner, pledges development for South West

Dr. Jide Martins Adewinle has been sworn in as the Federal Commissioner representing Ondo State at the South West Development Commission (SWDC), with a pledge to drive unity, prosperity and sustainable development across the region.

The inauguration, which took place on Thursday at the Rotunda Hall of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja, also featured commissioners from other regional development commissions, including the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) and the South South Development Commission (SSDC).

In his remarks shortly after the swearing-in, Adewinle described his appointment as “a call to action” rather than a ceremonial honour. He noted that despite the South West being rich in human capital, culture and resources, the region still grapples with critical challenges such as underdevelopment, unemployment, infrastructural deficits and environmental threats.

Outlining his vision, Adewinle said his priorities at the SWDC would be anchored on four pillars: regional integration, economic growth and prosperity, environmental sustainability and social inclusiveness.

He expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, the Federal Government, and Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, as well as traditional rulers, political leaders and community stakeholders for the confidence reposed in him.

The commissioner further assured the people of Ondo State that their voices and aspirations would shape his tenure.

“With transparency, accountability and results-driven leadership, I believe we can unlock a new chapter of transformation in the South West,” he stated.

Adewinle, who dedicated the feat to his family, reaffirmed his commitment to promoting equity, peace and inclusive growth across South West communities.
