NRC confirms train derailment on Abuja-Kaduna route

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) on Wednesday confirmed a derailment involving its Kaduna-bound Abuja-Kaduna Train Service at about 11:09 a.m.

Managing Director of NRC, Mr. Kayode Opeifa, in a statement, said the incident occurred at kilometre 49, between Kubwa Station and Asham Station.

He explained that emergency rescue and medical personnel had already been mobilised, while nearby hospitals were also on standby.

Opeifa added that a full complement of security was already on ground, as efforts were ongoing to move all passengers on board the train back to Abuja safely.

“Kindly bear with us at this moment,” the NRC boss stated.
