The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Wednesday carried out precision airstrikes that killed scores of terrorists and destroyed their hideout in Borno State, a major theatre of the Boko Haram insurgency.
The operation, conducted by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai, took place at about 10:50 a.m. in Bula Madibale, Gezuwa general area of the state.
In a statement issued Thursday in Abuja, the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the strikes followed credible intelligence and surveillance reports that revealed unusual terrorist movements in the location.
“About 45 terrorists were observed converging, some arriving on motorcycles and bicycles from different directions.
Reconnaissance further confirmed two terrorist flags hoisted at the site, underscoring its use as a stronghold and rallying point,” the statement read.
Acting on the intelligence, NAF fighter jets carried out targeted bombings that eliminated several insurgents, destroyed the flagged structure, and neutralised other hostile assets.
Ejodame added that the operation disrupted the terrorists’ ability to regroup, reinforce, or launch fresh attacks on communities across the North East.
He reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ commitment to sustaining momentum in the fight against terrorism and restoring peace and stability in the region.
