Man Stabs Friend After Dispute in Kebbi

Residents in the Gotar Aliero area of Birnin Kebbi were shocked on Monday morning after discovering the lifeless body of a man lying in a pool of blood near the central market.

The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the incident, identifying the deceased as 35-year-old Auwal Umar, a native of Katami village in Silame Local Government Area of Sokoto State. He was allegedly murdered by a close friend following an earlier altercation.

According to preliminary findings, Umar had an argument with the suspect, 30-year-old Bello Amakwa from Birnin Kebbi, during the day at Kara Market. Later that night, Amakwa allegedly returned and attacked Umar with a knife while he was asleep, resulting in his death.

Police spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, revealed that the suspect has been taken into custody and reportedly admitted to committing the crime during questioning.

Commenting on the development, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, expressed concern over the rising trend of violence among youths. He assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway and that the perpetrator will be brought to justice.
