Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Girlfriend in Lagos Hotel

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Amos Daniel for the alleged murder of his girlfriend in a hotel located in the Ayobo area of Lagos State.

According to reports, Daniel checked into the hotel on Thursday, July 18, with two friends. The deceased, identified simply as Endurance and said to be from Akwa Ibom State, later joined them in the room.

Trouble began around 10 p.m. when other hotel guests reportedly heard disturbing noises coming from their room. The hotel management, sensing danger, used a spare key to unlock the door and discovered the woman lying lifeless in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds.

The hotel manager immediately alerted the police at Ayobo Division while guests and staff apprehended Daniel as he attempted to flee the premises. His two accomplices were said to have escaped.

Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident, said the suspect confessed to conspiring with his fleeing accomplices to kill the victim for ritual purposes.

“Upon search, a dagger which the suspect dropped while being chased was recovered. A search at his residence led to the recovery of one axe, one cutlass, three machetes, one knife, one dagger, two scissors, five different types of pliers, two screwdrivers, a jackknife, a laptop, a POS machine, two flash drives, one power bank, a SIM card, a wristwatch, one wireless earpiece, a nose mask, a bag, and a pair of jungle boots,” Hundeyin stated.

The deceased’s body has been deposited at the Mainland General Hospital morgue in Yaba for autopsy.

The suspect and the recovered exhibits have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.
