Femi Oladele, popularly known as “Tallex,” the prime suspect in the gruesome murder of two undergraduate students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), has died under mysterious circumstances.
The late Oladele, a well-known landlord in Akungba-Akoko, was arrested by operatives of the Ondo State Police Command in connection with the brutal killing of Andrew Eloho Okah and John Friday Abba, both students of AAUA who were recently declared missing.
Sources confirmed that the suspect, who was apprehended at his hotel in Akungba, suddenly developed a strange illness shortly after he allegedly confessed to orchestrating the students’ abduction, rape, and murder. He reportedly died in a hospital on Friday.
According to investigations, Oladele had allegedly ordered a group of suspected cultists to “deal with” the victims over claims that they disrespected him. The two students were later found dead, their bodies discovered in a shallow grave near the Ondo-Ekiti border, weeks after they were declared missing by their coursemates.
A reliable source familiar with the case told our reporter on Saturday that the suspect became ill not long after making a confessional statement to the police, detailing his involvement in the heinous crime.
“Tallex is dead. He died at the hospital yesterday after falling ill in police custody. He had already made some confessions regarding the killing of the two Akungba students before his health suddenly deteriorated,” the source disclosed.
Oladele was reportedly arrested alongside two other suspects who are still in custody as investigations continue.
The tragic killing of the students and the mysterious death of the key suspect have sparked outrage and concerns across the university community and beyond. Authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the cause of death, while calls mount for a thorough and transparent investigation into the matter.
