Tragedy struck in Ado-Ekiti as a middle-aged man was arrested by the Ekiti State Police Command for allegedly killing his daughter’s boyfriend. The incident occurred near the popular Corpers’ Lodge along New Iyin Road when the young man reportedly visited the girl at her father’s residence.
Eyewitnesses said the father, who strongly disapproved of the relationship, allegedly mobilised some of his siblings to attack the boy. The brutal assault caused panic in the neighbourhood before the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later died due to excessive bleeding from injuries sustained during the attack.
Police spokesperson, SP Sunday Abutu, confirmed the arrest of the father and one accomplice, adding that they have been arraigned before a magistrate court in Ado-Ekiti and remanded in prison custody pending further investigation.
