kidnapping: Repair our roads, ex-Senator Olajumoke tells Aiyedatiwa

A Former Senator who represented Ondo North senatorial district, Dr Bode Olajumoke, has urged Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to fix bad roads in the state to curb insecurity in the state.

Senator Olajumoke particularly called for the rehabilitation of the Owo-Ose highway to reduce incessant kidnappings in the area.

Four members of the National Youth Service Corps were kidnapped last week on the Owo-Ose highway and paid N5m for their release

Senator Olajumoke said the bad portion of the Owo- Ose highway has led to the kidnapping and killing of several persons plying the route.

Speaking at an event to mark his 80th birthday, Senator Olajumoke lamented that indigenes of Ose local government were scared to return home during the festive season because kidnappers have over the locality.

Olajumoke said: “I have my children and grandchildren who almost turned back when they were coming to Imeri. The government should help us. A parent going to Navy Secondary School was kidnapped because of the bad road.

“The message from my people is that the government should repair the road between Owo and Ose local governments. Everybody is scared. We are afraid to travel on our roads. The roads should be repaired so that our people can travel by road.”

Governor Aiyedatiwa, who was represented by his Deputy, Dr. Olayide Adelami, described Senator Olajumoke as a leader who contributed to the growth of the state and the country in general
