The Katsina State Government has declared Monday, July 14, 2025, as a public holiday in honour of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday.
The announcement was made in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Faskari, on behalf of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.
According to the statement, the one-day work-free holiday is a gesture of respect for the late president, who hailed from Daura in Katsina State. Governor Radda described Buhari’s passing as a monumental loss not only to Katsina but to the entire country.
The government called on residents to dedicate the day to prayers and sober reflection on the legacy of the former leader, who is expected to be laid to rest in Daura in accordance with Islamic rites.
