JUST IN: Ondo PDP Spokesman Resigns, Criticizes Leadership’s Direction

Kennedy Ikantu Peretei, the Publicity Secretary of the opposition People’s Democratic Party in Ondo State from Arogbo Ward 1, in Ese-Odo Local Government Area, has announced his resignation from the party, citing frustrations with the leadership’s failure to focus on electoral success.

In a strongly worded resignation letter, Peretei accused the party’s leadership of having no real intention to secure electoral victories, both now and in the future. He expressed dissatisfaction with what he views as the leadership’s self-serving interests, which he believes have hindered the party’s ability to win elections in recent cycles.

“The people leading the party right now have no plan to win elections, neither now nor in the future,” Peretei stated, highlighting his growing disillusionment with the current party direction.

With a long history of service in the party, Peretei previously held the position of State Financial Secretary from 1999 to 2003 and has served as the State Publicity Secretary since 2020. Despite his significant contributions, he feels his efforts have been undermined by the same leadership that has held the party back from achieving electoral success in the past three election cycles.

Peretei also urged party members who rely on election-related funds and favors to seek other means of supporting themselves, suggesting that their continued participation in the party might leave them leading “meaningless lives” as political opportunists.

His resignation highlights growing dissatisfaction within the PDP in Ondo State, and his departure could signal wider unrest within the party, potentially impacting its future electoral prospects.
