JUST IN: FCT Resident Doctors Embark on Seven-Day Warning Strike

The Association of Resident Doctors, Federal Capital Territory (ARD-FCTA), has commenced a seven-day warning strike.

The decision was announced on Monday in a communiqué signed by the association’s President, Dr. George Ebong, and other members of the executive.

According to the communiqué, the doctors decried the deplorable state of the FCT health system, describing it as plagued by “long-standing systemic failures” that demand urgent and comprehensive reforms.

Dr. Ebong lamented that resident doctors in the territory are overburdened, often forced to cover multiple departments simultaneously — a situation he said threatens both patient care and doctors’ well-being.

He urged relevant authorities to act swiftly to address the concerns raised, warning that failure to do so could escalate the situation beyond a warning strike.
