Ikun-Akoko Residents Decry Poor Road Conditions, Appeal for Govt Intervention

Residents of Ikun Akoko in the Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State have described the three roads leading to their town as deplorable and in dire need of repair, Starnews reports.

Reverend Cannon Foluso Ogunsuyi and Anike Ologunofe, who are stakeholders in community, while speaking with our Correspondent, identified the affected routes as Ikun to Iwaro Oka, Ikun to Ipe Akoko, and Ikun to Afo Akoko.

They explained that these poor road conditions have severely hampered the socio-economic development of their agrarian community, which is known for its food production.

The residents noted that Ikun market, once bustling with traders from various locations, has now become a shadow of its former self due to the inability of farmers to transport their produce.

They urged the state government to address the road issues and also appealed for the deployment of more teachers to Ikun Akoko schools as part of the ongoing recruitment exercise, highlighting the current shortage of adequate teaching staff.

However, the residents praised the efforts of the Amotekun security outfit, which has significantly reduced criminal activities in the area.
