I Have Not Done Anything Wrong To Warrant Impeachment – Governor Fubara

According to Channels Television, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has vehemently denied any wrongdoing that could justify an impeachment procedure by the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The governor’s defiant stance comes in the midst of a fresh crisis engulfing the Rivers Assembly, with rumours swirling about a looming impeachment attempt against him.

The situation unfolded on a tumultuous Monday as the House made the unexpected move of ousting its leader, Edison Ehie. Tensions escalated rapidly, causing members of the Assembly to flee for their safety as tear gas was fired outside the complex.

Governor Fubara, addressing his supporters, who had gathered outside the Assembly Complex to protest the developments, declared that he had committed no offence deserving of an impeachment proceeding.

Fubara issued a direct challenge to those calling for his impeachment, demanding they come forward and explain to the people of Rivers State the alleged offences he had committed.

He reassured the state’s citizens that they would receive the promised dividends of democracy and indicated that he would provide a comprehensive statement on the matter at the appropriate time.
