Gunmen shoot man dead in Delta community

Gunmen suspected to be hired assassins have shot dead a yet-to-be-identified man along Oruwhoru road in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State.

The PUNCH gathered that the incident occurred on Saturday evening when the gunmen who had been trailing the young motorist suddenly pulled the trigger from behind and shot him dead in his car.

“Nothing was taken away from his car after killing him. The killers did not even check if he had anything on him. They only confirmed that he was dead. They seemed to have followed him from somewhere,” one of the eyewitnesses said.

“The young man is said to be a Yahoo-Yahoo boy who had picked money for someone and refused to give the money to the other person whom he picked it for. The young man did not die instantly but after being shot, he drove on and hit a BEDC pole before he died right inside his car at Oruwhoru road by Ekete Junction before Teepee Garage,” he added.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command, Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident.

“Yes, it’s confirmed,” he stated in a text message made sent to our correspondent on Sunday.
