Rev Ezekiel Dachomo Alleges Children Denied University Admission Over Comments on Christian Genocide

Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, has alleged that his children are being deliberately denied admission into Nigerian universities because of his outspoken criticism of the killings of Christians in parts of the country.

In a statement issued on Friday, the cleric said his children, despite meeting all academic and institutional requirements, have faced repeated rejections during admission processes—particularly from universities located in northern Nigeria.

Dachomo attributed the alleged discrimination to his public condemnation of what he has consistently described as the systemic killing of Christians by bandits and terrorist groups, especially in Plateau State communities.

“My children have been denied admission into universities, especially in the North, because of my stance and position in exposing Christian genocide,” the statement read in part.

According to the cleric, the pattern of rejection often emerges during screening exercises when admission officers allegedly recognise the surname “Dachomo.”
“Once they see the name Dachomo, the application is allegedly set aside or quietly dropped,” he said.

He noted that such incidents have occurred on more than three occasions, describing them as deliberate actions targeted at punishing him through his children because of his continued calls on the government to intervene and halt the killings.

“My children have applied to different institutions over time, but the outcome has often been rejection without clear reasons. The pattern has repeated itself mostly in northern institutions, and this is not a coincidence,” he added.

Rev. Dachomo said the situation has caused emotional distress to his family, particularly his children, who have no involvement in his activism or public commentary.

Describing the treatment as unfair and unjust, he appealed to Nigerian authorities and educational institutions to refrain from victimising his children because of his beliefs or advocacy.
“They are innocent and should not be punished for my outspokenness,” he said.
