Gunmen Abduct Wife, Daughter of APC Chairman in Kwara

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted the wife and daughter of Alhaji Muhammad Swasun, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sakpefu community, Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The incident occurred on Sunday night when the assailants stormed the community, shooting sporadically to scare residents before whisking away the victims to an unknown location.

A source, who confirmed the incident on Monday, identified the victims as Hajiya Fatima, wife of the party chairman, and Amina, his daughter.

“The bandits abducted his wife and daughter and took them to an undisclosed destination,” the source said.

Patigi and other parts of Kwara North have recently experienced repeated abduction cases, heightening fear among residents. Community leaders and locals have continued to call on government and security agencies to take decisive action to curb the menace.

This latest incident comes just days after gunmen attacked Shagbe community in Ifelodun Local Government Area, killing some residents and abducting several others during an invasion of the palace of the Onishagbe of Shagbe. Witnesses said the assailants operated for hours without any response from security operatives, despite repeated distress calls.

The Kwara State government has since assured residents that measures are being put in place to address rising insecurity across the state.
