Grandson of veteran musician killed in Ondo

A tragic incident happened in Okitipupa, Ondo State, when Prince Ogo Omoge, the grandson of the late music legend Mrs. Comfort Omoge, lost his life during a street confrontation.

The young man was reportedly attacked along the Ayeka/Igodan-Igbokoda road in the Okitipupa Local Government Area after a disagreement with a scavenger turned violent.

Eyewitnesses said the argument between the two men started over an undisclosed issue and quickly became heated.

During the altercation, the scavenger brought out a sharp object and attacked Omoge, cutting his throat.

The victim was rushed to the hospital, but doctors confirmed he had died before he could be treated.

The suspect, identified as Machido Abubakar, fled the scene immediately after the incident.

However, with the help of local residents and security personnel, he was later tracked down and arrested.

The Chairman of Okitipupa council, Andrew Ogunsakin, confirmed the arrest and praised both the security agents and the residents for their cooperation.

He also assured the community that efforts were ongoing to maintain peace and protect lives.

Ogunsakin extended his sympathy to the family of the deceased and held a meeting with traditional rulers, youth leaders, and members of the Hausa/Fulani community to ensure everyone remained calm.

He said his administration was working with security forces to make sure justice is served.

Meanwhile, the state police spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, confirmed that the suspect was in custody as investigations continue.
