Ganduje Declares NNPP “Defunct,” Predicts Kwankwaso’s Return to APC

Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has proclaimed that the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) is “defunct” and anticipated that Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, will soon make his way back to the ruling party.

Ganduje shared these remarks on Tuesday during a visit by the Tinubu Support Group to the APC national headquarters in Abuja. He expressed confidence that Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State and the current leader of the NNPP, would rejoin the APC, noting that the party is open to welcoming back members who choose to return.

“We have been receiving prominent politicians and lawmakers from across the country. We remain ready to welcome anyone who decides to return to the party,” Ganduje stated.

On the fate of the NNPP, Ganduje described the party as irrelevant and nearing its end.

“The NNPP is finished, and its collapse is imminent. I believe the preparations for its burial are already in progress,” he said.

Ganduje suggested that despite his recent political losses, Kwankwaso may be contemplating a return to the APC.

“Even after losing much of his support, the leader of the NNPP seems to be seeking to come back to us. We are ready to receive him, as he is returning home,” Ganduje added.

He also downplayed the opposition’s strength, forecasting that any coalition formed to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections will ultimately disband, with many key figures returning to the APC.
