FG Approves ₦1bn to Begin Construction of Police Training Institute in Jigawa

The Federal Government has approved the release of one billion naira (₦1bn) for the commencement of construction work on a new Police Training Institute in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

The development was disclosed by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Policies Affairs and Senator representing Jigawa Northeast Senatorial District, Senator Abdulhamid Ahmed Malam Madori, during the Jigawa State Government Citizen Engagement Programme (JSGCEP) held in Kafin Hausa.

According to Senator Madori, the proposed Police Training Institute has already undergone all legislative procedures and was passed into law by the Senate. He added that the project is currently awaiting the assent of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to enable immediate implementation.

“The construction of the Police Training Institute in Kafin Hausa has undergone all processes and has been passed into law by the Senate. The sum of ₦1 billion was included and approved in the 2025 national budget,” the senator said.

Senator Madori explained that the institution is intended to enhance the training and retraining of police officers in Nigeria, providing modern and effective methods for tackling security challenges across the country.

He further revealed that he personally sponsored the motion for the establishment of the institute in the Red Chamber, which received the Senate’s backing and secured funding in the current budget cycle.

In addition to the federal project, Senator Madori donated a brand-new Toyota Hilux vehicle to the Kafin Hausa Divisional Police Headquarters and funded the renovation and full furnishing of the police division and its barracks as part of his commitment to improving local security infrastructure.

He also announced that over 8,000 youths and women in Kafin Hausa LGA have benefitted from his empowerment programs. Furthermore, he contributed over ₦5 million for the completion of the Central Jumaat Mosque in the local government headquarters.

The senator expressed his gratitude to the residents of Kafin Hausa for their warm reception and enthusiastic participation in the citizen engagement forum.
