Farmer Accidentally Shoots, Kills 15-Year-Old Son in Ekiti

A 15-year-old boy has died after being mistakenly shot by his father in Iye Ekiti, Ilejemeje Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

As reported by The Hope, the incident, which occurred on the family’s farmland, was confirmed by the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Eribo.

According to a preliminary investigation, the father, whose name has not been disclosed, had taken his son to the farm for routine work.

The police said the farmer had been experiencing frequent monkey invasions on his farm and had carried a firearm to ward them off.

While on the farm, he reportedly noticed movement in a nearby tree and fired a shot, assuming it was a monkey. It turned out to be his son, who was on the tree and was hit by the bullet.
