Even inmates can’t eat this,’ NCOS recruits cry to Tunji Ojo over poor feeding, no water at Enugu camp (Photos)

Nigeria Correctional Service Recruits, at the Correctional Service Training School in Enugu, on Wednesday, lamented the poor feeding condition and lack of water at the camp, describing it as worrisome.

Despite the huge amount of money the federal government of Nigeria is appropriating for prison services, Starnews NG reports that the recruits who started their six months training on January 8, lamented the unavailability of drinkable water, poor feeding condition, bad diet and malnourishment in the Enugu training camp.

The recruits who spoke in a separate interviews with Starnews NG, said, “even prison inmates can’t eat the food they were giving them to eat at the Enugu training camp for the past four months”.

They called upon the Honourable Minister of Interior, Hon. Bunmi Tunji -Ojo to intervene and come to their rescue.

“Even prisoners won’t take this bad food. We have spent 4 months out of 6 months here at CORRECTIONAL SERVICE TRAINING SCHOOL, ENUGU. We have been employed as staff, but we came here to do our 6 months Basic Recruit course.

“Sadly, we are getting lean day by day due to lack of proper nutrition, Hon. Bunmi Tunji Ojo must be aware of what is happening here. We trust him and believe in him, he won’t take this nonsense. Please help us reach out to him. We are begging him to help us before we die here”, one of the recruits told our Correspondent in tears.

Another person said, “This is getting worrisome. We wake up by 4:30 am every day. We do cleaning, from cleaning to P.E, from P.E to match parade, and then we go to class for lectures. By 4pm, we take our cutlasses to go and cut grasses. Only to be fed with what prison inmates cannot even eat.

“They are now telling us to keep augmenting. No drinking water in the training school. We go outside the camp to buy drinkable water with our Jerry Cans and money on daily basis. Despite the huge amount of money the federal government is appropriating for this training, look at what they are feeding us with at Enugu training camp”, the recruit lamented.
