The Federal High Court in Abuja has summoned Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, over a suit filed by Senator Jimoh Ibrahim on the just concluded governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State.

Starnews NG reports that Jimoh, who is an Aspirant, approached the court, seeking the nullification of the primary.

It would be recalled that the Plaintiff had yesterday, described the primary election as a mega fraud, stressing that the exercise was fraught with irregularities.

The suit marked: No: FHC/ABJ/CS/588/2024 is between Senator Jimoh Ibrahim and the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

However, in a video obtained by our correspondent, the Applicant and his Counsel were seen stepping out of the court and subsequently addressed newsmen.

In his address, the Counsel said, “Well, as a matter of fact, today the Federal High Court has made an order for APC, Aiyedatiwa and INEC to appear in court on Tuesday 14th May in connection with the conduct of the Ondo State Governorship Primary Election, which is disputed.

“And you know, the critical thing about this case is that it deals with internal democracy of political parties, which is a major problem we have in this country. And I will hope and pray that this matter will address and resolve this issue once and for all.

“The Supreme Court has said severally that political parties must obey their own constitution and must abide by the guidelines they have set for the conduct of elections.

“Because without it, there’s no way you can guarantee democracy in a country like Nigeria. So that’s the importance of this case and that’s why we have come to court.

“And the court has also said that we should serve Ayedatiwa through the APC secretariat. So we don’t need to go to a court and be looking for the APC secretary. There will be a copy of the order,” he said
