Ekiti 2018: Group Writes Ekiti Youths Against Voting Old Generation

The Council of Concerned Youth of Nigeria (COCYON) has written all Ekiti Youth, warning them against voting for analogue leaders while the youths across Nigeria are yearning for digital leadership in the country.

In a statement signed by the national president of the group, pastor Olumide Akinrinlola and made available to starnews through an email, the group, (COCYON) called on all Ekiti Youths to unite, and use the permanent voters card (PVC) to fight for the liberty of Nigerian youths by voting for new Nigeria led by the youth.

The full statement issued by pastor Akinrinlola read:

Dear Ekiti Youths,

“I do not write to bore you with how Nigerian youths have been sidelined politically in recent past. Neither do I write to regal you with the recycling of old political generation (analogue leaders) into the new generation of digital world. This, you already know.

Great minds, I write to inform you that the July 2018 forthcoming governorship election in Ekiti State is an opportunity for Ekiti Youth to unite, and use the permanent voters card (PVC) to fight for the liberty of Nigerian youths by voting for new Nigeria led by the youth.

This coming Ekiti governorship election is the best avenue for you all to vote for a governor and deputy governor that correspond with digital leadership which we are all yearning for. The world today is for the youth. We are tired with all the analogue leaders who are tired but have all refused to retire.

The Council of Concerned Youth of Nigeria (COCYON) hereby call on you all to use your PVC to retire all the old generation who are recycling themselves into the new generation even when many of them are above 70 years of age.

It’s no longer news to you that Nigerian youth are fatigued with the old generation. We hereby advise you all to use this forthcoming governorship election in Ekiti State to lay the foundation by subscribing through your PVC to the global crave for paradigm shift in good governance led by youthful generation in Ekiti State.

My people in Ekiti State, between the two major political parties in Ekiti State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), you know without mentioning names, the political party that is promoting our youth in governance and the one that keeps recycling the old generation who are above 70 years of age into the political class.

In this coming Ekiti election, the youths should make themselves available for the appearance of a better tomorrow in Nigeria through the use of our PVC to produce credible youths as governor and deputy governor in Ekiti State.

It is also the decision of the council of concerned youth of Nigeria (COCYON) to advise you not to sell your tomorrow by casting votes base on monetary gains that won’t last for 2days.

Note that we are no longer the leaders of tomorrow because tomorrow does no have any end. Our tomorrow is now… Our tomorrow has come.

I think I am making a common sense.”

Signed.

Pst Olumide Akinrinlola, National President of Council of Concerned Youth of Nigeria (COCYON).
