BREAKING: Rivers Assembly stops Governor Fubara from presenting 2025 budget

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State was on Wednesday denied access to the State House of Assembly, preventing him from presenting the 2025 budget.

The budget presentation was scheduled to take place before lawmakers led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, following a Supreme Court directive that required the state budget to be properly approved before federal allocations could be released.

However, upon arriving at the Assembly complex, security personnel barred the governor from entering, stopping him from carrying out the presentation.

Addressing reporters outside the building, Fubara stated that his decision to present the budget was in the best interest of the state. He also mentioned that he had previously reached out to the Speaker through official correspondence and a phone call before making his way to the Assembly.
