BREAKING: Mojisola Meranda Resigns as Lagos Assembly Speaker

By Bayero Ade

Mojisola Meranda has resigned from her position as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

She announced her decision during a special plenary session on Monday, where she read her resignation letter aloud, stating, “I hereby tender my resignation as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.”

Meranda assumed the role on January 13, 2025, following the removal of former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, who is reportedly set to reclaim the position.

Despite her brief time in office, lawmakers praised her leadership and contributions to fostering unity in the Assembly.

In addition to Meranda, all principal officers who assumed office alongside her have also stepped down.
