BREAKING: Appeal Court Upholds Judgment Sacking Abba Yusuf as Kano Governor

The court of appeal in Abuja has affirmed the order of the Kano state governorship election petition tribunal which sacked Abba Yusuf, candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), as governor of the state.

In a judgment delivered on Friday, a three-member panel of the appellate court held that the NNPP breached the constitution by sponsoring Yusuf who was not a member of the party.

A three-man panel of judges led by Justice Oluyemi Akintan Osadebay of the Election Petition Tribunal had sacked Yusuf on September 20, 2023, by declaring 165,663 of his votes invalid because they were not signed or stamped by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
