The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has postponed its planned 100th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, which was earlier scheduled to take place on May 27.
The decision was made to give more time to the party’s Reconciliation Committee, led by former Senate President Bukola Saraki, to address unresolved issues within the party.
The announcement was made on Sunday, May 25, by PDP National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu.
He explained that the move is aimed at creating room for the committee to finish its task of settling disagreements among party members before the NEC gathering is held.
According to him, the change in plans is necessary to ensure a peaceful and well-organized meeting.
He also mentioned that a fresh date for the NEC meeting will be shared with party leaders and members in line with the PDP constitution and the Electoral Act.
He warned against paying attention to any notice or publication about the meeting that may come from the Deputy National Secretary acting outside his role.
He insisted that such actions are not approved and should be ignored.
Anyanwu expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the postponement and urged members to remain calm and wait for the official update on the new meeting date.
