Again, Gunmen Kidnap Varsity Students In Nasarawa

Gunmen suspected to be bandits, have abducted at least four students of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK).

The incident, according to a source, occurred outside the school campus around Angwan Kare area of Keffi, on Monday night.

This is coming barely 24 hours after former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) of NSUK, Professor Haruna Ayuba Kuje, was kidnapped on Sunday night.

The affected students are Rahila Hanya (SLT), Josephine Gershon (Computer Science), Rosemary Samuel (Business Administration) and Goodness Samuel of Geography Department.

Comrade Solomon Timmy, the head of the Student Union Government (SUG), confirmed the incident to newsmen on Tuesday, adding that the abducted victims are all 100-level students.

The SUG Secretary-General, Comrade Riwonga Lucky Ali, in a statement issued on Tuesday, urged students to remain calm as efforts are in place to secure their release unhurt.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of NSUK Chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Samuel Alu, has confirmed the release of Professor Kuje.

Alu said Prof. Kuje was released on Tuesday, and has been re-united with his family.

The former DVC was kidnapped by gunmen on Sunday night, at his private residence in Keffi.
