Academic Activities Resume as LASU Workers End Strike

Academic activities at Lagos State University (LASU) are set to resume following the suspension of a strike by the institution’s workers.

The industrial action, declared by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Staff Unions on July 31, 2025, had forced LASU’s Senate to suspend all academic and social activities during a virtual meeting held on August 2.

In a statement issued by the Deputy Registrar and Coordinator, Centre for Information and Public Relations, Thomas-Onashile Oluwayemisi, LASU confirmed that JAC agreed to call off the strike after a meeting between the university’s management and Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.

According to the statement, full academic and social activities will resume across LASU’s Ojo, Ikeja, and Epe campuses on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. Students are expected to return to their hostels on the same date.

The 2024/2025 Second Semester Examinations, which were postponed due to the strike, will now commence on Monday, August 18, 2025.

The statement urged students to return promptly and prepare adequately for the examinations.
