• Accuses him of desecrating Yoruba traditional institution

The Irawo Oni Oodua of Yoruba, and traditional title holder of Erelu Oodua, Mabel Tinuade Onaneye, on Thursday, blasted His Royal Majesty, the Oluwo of Iwo land, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, Telu 1, one of the prominent traditional rulers in Osun State.

Erelu accused him of bringing shame and disgrace to the ancient throne of Iwo kingdom and the traditional institution of Yoruba race.

In a mail sent to Starnews NG from Texas, United States of America, Erelu described Oba Abdulrasheed as shameless and uncultured over his alleged untraditional behaviour on the throne.

She wrote:

”It is mind-boggling that most of our respected Yoruba traditional rulers no longer have respect or fear for the authority of the throne they occupy. Our cultural heritage is being threatened with the influence of hooliganism, arrogance, politics and the lust for money.”

”Our age long traditions are no longer being respected and this would kill our well-guided traditional structures, the most valuable culture, well respected, and recognized all over the World.”

”Our ancient cultural and traditional practice today is suffering a greater step back, because those we are looking up to as the leaders, custodians of tradition and culture, such as the Royal Fathers, and High Chiefs, who are meant to promote our culture, our practice, our pride, our mode of dressing, and enhance cultural principles, have disgracefully turned out as direct opposite to all the above in Yoruba land.”

”My people in Yorubaland, these facts are better fetched from the uncontrollable, unchecked, unashamed behavioural attitude of the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Albudrasheed Akanbi Adewale, the geri malami of Osun State.”

”His attitude on the throne of Iwo has proven to be a taboo and a taint to the entire Yoruba race. His public self declaration of being the highest authority to other Obas and historical deities in Yorubaland since his coronation as Oluwo of Iwo, is shameful and a direct insult to the gods of our land.”

”His recent dress mode in Halkinba and turban, like an emir in northern Nigeria, is an insult to the ancestral throne of Iwo land.”

”As a matter of urgency, I am seekng the speedy intervention of Yoruba stakeholders in this matter especially the government of Osun State and other traditional chieftaincy title holders in the state to immediately call Kabiyesi to order.”

”If Kabiyesi, the Oluwo of Iwo, cannot recognise the fact that he is now a King and no longer on the street, then, I will advise him to leave the throne immediately.”

”Some of us can no longer tolerate his demonstration of foolishness and radicalism in Yoruba traditional institution. I fear what he represents to this generation and the generation to come, ” angry Erelu said.
