Young businesswoman shot dead by assailant

A middle-aged businesswoman named Theresa Awuhe, who operated an outlet near the Gyado Villa area of Makurdi, has been brutally murdered by an unidentified assailant.

Reports indicate that Awuhe was shot around 10 p.m. on Saturday while returning home from her shop after closing for the day.

According to an anonymous local source, Awuhe was attacked by a lone gunman in the presence of two of her relatives who had come to visit her.

He said, “she was going back home after the day’s business and was passing through a short path when someone appeared from nowhere with a pistol and shot her from behind. The two women with her, one of them had a baby, took to their heels.

“She fell down and the attacker shot again then went closer and shot her on the head. It was a clear case of assassination because no money or mobile phone was taken from her by the attacker who fled after shooting her.

“There are several insinuations about her death but these are unverified information until the Police and other security agents who are all over the area, come up with their findings.”

Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent, SP, Catherine Anene confirmed the development.

She said the matter was reported to the Police who had already commenced investigation into the heinous murder.
