The national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, yesterday described former President Olusegun Obasanjo as a beneficiary of rigged elections.

At the party’s presidential rally in Akure, the Ondo State capital, Tinubu alleged that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under former Obasanjo, rigged elections in its favour in 2003 and 2007.

The Guardian reports that Tinubu accused the PDP of crying wolf about rigging in the forthcoming polls because it lacked capacity to win, added that Obasanjo who was among those raising the allegation benefitted from manipulated elections in the past. 

Meanwhile, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State yesterday accused the Ondo State deputy governor, Barr Agboola Ajayi, of plot to rig the February 16 general election in Ondo state through the use of ex – militants for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement made available to press men in Akure by Hon. Banji Okunomo, the State Publicity Secretary of PDP in Ondo State, the party revealed that the deputy governor held series of meeting with ex militia groups in Ondo state particularly from the riverine areas of the state seeking their support to hatch his illicit plans in violation of the electoral laws to rig the election in favour of the APC especially in the riverine area of the State.

Part of the plans according to PDP includes: “blocking the bank accounts of prominent leaders of PDP, blocking the campaign fund account of the party, wanton and whisking away of PDP leaders to unknown destinations.
