The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has made it clear that he has no intention of resolving his disagreement with Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara.
According Politics Nigeria during a media briefing in Abuja on Sunday, Wike expressed dissatisfaction with Fubara and his associates, accusing them of ignoring President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to mediate the dispute.
Wike remarked, “I don’t see any conflict to resolve. The President brought everyone together and provided clear instructions—withdraw the impeachment notice, take specific steps—but they didn’t follow through.
“The Assembly withdrew the impeachment notice, but then you turned around and took the matter to court. Have they returned to the President to explain why they couldn’t fulfill the rest of the directives? No. I’ve never encountered a situation where a president intervenes, and one party disregards it, claiming it’s political. Who does that?”
The rift between Wike and Fubara reportedly began a few months after Fubara’s inauguration as governor, with the tension allegedly rooted in a struggle for control over political influence and resources in Rivers State.
