Why I won’t join issue with Wike – Wabara

By Miracle Ogunde

Adolphus Wabara, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Board of Trustees, BoT, has described the comments by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, about him as disgraceful, stating that it was unbecoming of a supposed man of honour to speak without decorum.

Wabara was reacting to Wike’s remark that he would have disowned Wabara if the former Senate President were his father.

He challenged Wike to tell the world what wrong he committed to warrant being disowned.

Wike, during a media chat yesterday in Abuja, criticised Wabara’s leadership style as the PDP BoT Chairman.

In a statement he signed, the PDP BoT Chairman accused the minister of “spewing gibberish like a broken water pipe without a tap,” which he said was not a mark of maturity.

According to Wabara: “I would expect a man of his calibre and status to mind his language and words. He should be sure of his facts. But I don’t want to join issues with Wike and dignify him.

“Frankly, for a son to disown his father, his father must have wronged him terribly. Can Wike please tell the world what it is I did wrong to him?

“Talking about corruption, Nigerians know those who are corrupt, and I can proudly say and beat my chest that I’m not one of them. I, Adolphus Wabara, am not corrupt! I won’t be joining issues with people who have no respect for elders.”
