Uzodimma Urges Speedy Probe of JAMB Website Hackers

By Charles Maduka

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has called on the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services to expedite their investigation into the hacking of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board website.

The JAMB website experienced severe disruptions during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, affecting the results of over 370,000 candidates, many of whom were from the southeastern region.

Security agencies announced on Friday that 20 individuals had been arrested for allegedly compromising the examination body’s computer-based test servers for financial gain, leading to widespread confusion and distress for students and parents.

In a statement released through the state’s Commissioner for Information, Declan Emelumba, Governor Uzodimma welcomed the arrests and commended the swift action of the security operatives.

He stressed the importance of getting to the root of the matter, stating that the arrest and prosecution of those responsible would help calm nationwide tensions caused by the scandal.

“The Nigeria Police and DSS must act promptly to conclude investigations and bring the culprits to justice,” the statement read. “Swift prosecution will serve as a warning to others contemplating similar acts.”

Describing the JAMB breach as a national disgrace, the governor emphasized the need for immediate and firm action to restore public confidence in the examination system.

He also praised JAMB Registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede, for his integrity and efforts in preserving the credibility of the examination board throughout the crisis.
