Nigerian troops have overrun another hideout linked to notorious bandit leader Bello Turji in Zamfara State, seizing a cache of weapons during the operation.
As reported by Afripost, according to intelligence sources cited by Zagazola Makama, the raid was conducted under Operation FANSAN YANMA as part of the broader Operation Tsatsa Daji III Phase 2, which aims to eliminate criminal strongholds in Shinkafi and Zurmi Local Government Areas.
Military officials disclosed that the offensive was initiated after credible intelligence suggested that bandits were regrouping near Katsira village. When initial searches yielded no results, the troops moved toward Fakai village, a known hub for heavily armed criminals.
“Garin Fakai has served as a key base for Bello Turji and his fighters,” a military source confirmed.
“Our troops carried out a thorough search, set the camp ablaze, and forced the bandits to flee. Women and children left behind were later rescued.”
During the operation, soldiers recovered AK-47 rifles, an RPG bomb, and several rounds of ammunition.
In the days leading up to the raid, security forces had intensified operations across Zamfara, targeting bandit hideouts and dismantling kidnapping camps within the Zurmi forest.
