Transfer: Dessers will leave Rangers — Martin

Rangers head coach, Russell Martin, has confirmed that Nigerian striker, Cyriel Dessers, will be leaving the Scottish giants as he edges closer to a move to Greek Super League champions, Panathinaikos.

Dessers, who came off the bench in Sunday’s tense Old Firm derby clash with Celtic, is understood to have played his final game in the colours of the Light Blues.

Speaking after the match, Martin admitted the 30-year-old’s exit was all but sealed. “Cyriel has probably played his last game for us,” the coach was quoted as saying by BBC Scotland.

The Greek champions have reportedly agreed to pay €5 million for the forward, who joined Rangers from Serie A outfit Cremonese in the summer of 2023. His time at Ibrox saw him register important goals across domestic and European competitions, though his performances often divided opinion among fans.

Dessers’ impending departure marks the end of a one-year stint in Scotland, as he now looks set for a new chapter in Athens with Panathinaikos.
