Transfer: Chelsea owners agree €20m deal to sign Enciso

Chelsea’s owners, BlueCo, have reportedly reached an agreement with Brighton & Hove Albion to sign Paraguay international Julio Enciso in a deal worth around €20 million.

According to reports, the 21-year-old forward will first be sent on loan to Strasbourg, another club under BlueCo’s ownership, before eventually linking up with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Enciso joined Brighton from Paraguayan side Libertad in 2022 and has made 57 appearances, scoring five goals. However, his progress at the Amex Stadium has been disrupted by injuries, including a torn meniscus in August 2023 that sidelined him for six months and saw him miss 38 matches for both club and country.

With new Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler favouring other options in attack, Enciso has slipped down the pecking order, paving the way for his exit.

The move continues BlueCo’s transfer dealings with Brighton, having already signed Marc Cucurella, Moises Caicedo, Robert Sanchez, and Joao Pedro since taking over Chelsea in 2022.
