Tragedy Strikes: Border Patrol Agent Gunned Down Just Hours After Trump’s Tough Immigration Pledge

A border patrol agent was tragically shot dead near the U.S.-Canada border shortly after President Donald Trump outlined a crackdown on immigration during his inauguration. The incident occurred around 3:15 PM on Monday in Newport, Vermont, while the agent was conducting a routine traffic stop.

Authorities have identified two suspects involved in the shooting, with one reportedly shot dead during the confrontation, as reported by Fox News. The shocking event led to the immediate closure of sections of Interstate 91 as law enforcement launched a thorough investigation.

The FBI has joined the investigation, and motorists have been advised to find alternate routes as officials work to secure the area.

This violent incident comes just hours after President Trump returned to the White House, armed with a hardline agenda promising to deport migrants who have entered the U.S. On his first day in office, Trump wasted no time in signing a series of executive orders, with ten of them addressing the ongoing immigration crisis at the southern border.

The swift actions taken by the new administration highlight the critical role immigration policy will play in Trump’s second term, as he declares a national emergency at the southern border.
