A 53-year-old trader, Alhaji Usman Mani, became the latest victim of a suspected “one-chance” robbery gang, who stole N700,000 from him before throwing him out of a moving vehicle on the Abuja-Lokoja highway, near the Government Secondary School (GSS) Yangoji.
Mani, who resides in Unguwar Sabon-Tasha, Abaji Area Council, recounted the terrifying incident that took place at around 6:25 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2025. He had just completed a business transaction at Tungan Maje market and was traveling back to Abaji when the crime occurred.
According to Mani, he boarded a vehicle at Wazobia Park in Gwagwalada, which already had three passengers in the backseat and one in the front. He took a seat in the back of the vehicle, but as they neared a bend near GSS Yangoji, a woman in the car complained about discomfort, prompting the driver to stop and ask Mani to move to the front seat.
“As I got down to change seats, one of them suddenly pushed me out of the vehicle, and they sped off with my bag containing N700,000,” Mani explained.
Mani suffered bruises from the fall but was fortunate enough to receive assistance from a passing motorist who recognized him. The motorist kindly drove him to Abaji at no charge.
