People scampered for safety in Akungba town of Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State, as thugs suddenly invaded the venue of over 1,500 members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) who were planning to join the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
Starnews Nigeria reports that the incident happened on Sunday at United Primary School in Akungba town.
The public address system hired to provide sound system were reportedly destroyed by the thugs while people were chased out of the venue with dangerous weapons according to our reporter who was at the venue to cover the event.
Hon. Abiodun Ogunbi, a former member of the Ondo State House of Assembly said they were thugs sponsored by the ruling APC to disrupt the programme.
Ogunbi said his life was also threatened by the thugs which were sent by a chieftain of the ruling APC according to him.
Starnews Nigeria gathered that some members of the ZLP sustained varying degrees of injuries in the process.
