Kogi State Governor Ahmed Ododo has been honoured with the Golden Award of Excellence for Education and Teachers’ Friendliness by the Nigeria Union of Teachers during the 2025 World Teachers’ Day celebration at Eagle Square, Abuja.
According to a statement by Unubi Emmanuel, Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, the award was in recognition of Governor Ododo’s contributions to teachers’ welfare and the development of the education sector in Kogi State. The Deputy Governor, Comrade Joel Salifu, received the award on behalf of the Governor to the applause of teachers at the event.
The statement said the teachers commended Governor Ododo for his commitment to improving the teaching profession and education in the state. It added that the award signified the NUT’s appreciation of the administration’s efforts and investments in the sector.
Several top government officials accompanied the Deputy Governor to the event, including members of the Kogi State House of Assembly, commissioners, advisers and senior aides of the Governor, as well as former lawmakers and other prominent figures from the state.
Emmanuel noted that the recognition would further motivate the state government to sustain and improve its plans for teachers and the education sector as a whole.
