Tambuwal Returns to Sokoto, Vows to Unseat APC in 2027

Former Governor of Sokoto State and Senator representing Sokoto South, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, on Friday returned to Sokoto to a rousing reception from supporters, declaring his resolve to lead the charge against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

Tambuwal, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives and Director General of Atiku Abubakar’s 2023 presidential campaign, was welcomed by crowds from Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara states, in what observers described as a political show of force.

Addressing supporters in Sokoto metropolis, Tambuwal criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, accusing it of worsening the country’s economic and security challenges.

“In 2023, we warned Nigerians not to vote for Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Today, the hardship, hunger, and hopelessness we see are proof of what we said,” he declared.

The senator called for a united front to “send APC and Tinubu packing in 2027,” promising that the opposition will mobilise nationwide to achieve the goal.

On his recent visit to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Tambuwal described the development as voluntary and dismissed allegations that he withdrew over ₦2 billion monthly from the Sokoto State Government account as “blatant lies.”

“How much is even the state’s monthly allocation from the Federal Government?” he asked. “They can set up as many fake panels as they want; they will find nothing.”

Tmbuwal concluded by vowing not to be intimidated, insisting that “the truth will always stand tall.”
