The Kogi state House of assembly has impeached the embattled Deputy Governor, Elder Simon Achuba. His impeachment followed the submission earlier in the day the report of the committee set up by the state chief judge, Justice Nadir Ajana to investigate an allegation of gross misconduct against the former deputy Governor. Kogi: Gov. Yahaya Bello’s Chief of Staff ‘Onoja’ resigns
Chief Edward Onoja, Chief of Staff to Gov. Yahaya Bello, has resigned his position less than one month to the Kogi governorship election. Onoja resigned to enable him emerge as running mate to the governor who is seeking reelection on the platform All Progressives Congress (APC). This was contained in a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Folashade Arike who named former Director General (Protocol), Abdulkareem Jamiu as the new Chief of Staff to the governor. Melaye declines PDP’s appointment as DG Kogi Guber Campaign Council
Senator Dino Melaye has rejected his appointment as the Director-General of the Kogi State Governorship Campaign Council by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Melaye made this known on Friday via his Twitter handle @dino-melaye. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan had told newsmen that Melaye has been appointed the DG of Kogi State Governorship Campaign Council. However, declining the offer, Melaye wrote: “Let me state categorically that I have turned down the position of the Director-General of the Kogi State Governorship Campaign Council. “I wish PDP all the best. When truth is a casualty, there is chaos.”
INEC to publish names, particulars of candidates for Kogi, Bayelsa polls
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is to publish names of candidates and their particulars for Kogi and Bayelsa governorship elections today, The Nation gathered on Thursday. Fifty-two parties submitted lists of nominated candidates for Bayelsa State, while 49 parties submitted for Kogi. INEC monitored 64 primaries in Bayelsa and 59 in Kogi. The publication of the list and particulars, according to the National Commissioner & Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr. Festus Okoye, is in accordance “with the Electoral Act and in line with the timetable and schedule of activities for the Bayelsa and Kogi governorship elections.” He

Senator Dino Melaye has rejected the results of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary election in Kogi State. Musa Wada Wins Kogi PDP Governorship Primary Election
Engr Musa Wada has gotten the governorship ticket of the People Democratic Party (PDP) for Kogi State. Wada polled a total of 748 votes to defeat his closed opponent Ibrahim Abubakar, who polled 710 votes. The election is slated to hold November 16, 2019. APC Will Win Both Bayelsa and Kogi – Tinubu
National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has said that the party would win the governorship election in Kogi and Bayelsa States. Tinubu who spoke in Benin City at the 90th birthday of Chief David Edebiri, the Esogban of Benin Kingdom said he expects victory for the APC in both states. Outrage as APC disqualifies 12 Kogi gov aspirants
There was outrage on Monday as the All Progressives Congress Governorship Screening Committee disqualified 12 aspirants from the August 29 governorship primary in Kogi State. However, Governor Yahya Bello, a member of the House of Representatives, Hassan Bello, Ekele Aisha Blessing and Abubakar Bashir were cleared for the primary by the six-member committee chaired by Senator Hope Uzodimma.
