Senate Swears In Smart Adeyemi, Replaces Dino Melaye
Senate President Ahmed Lawan has swore-in Senator Smart Adeyemi of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Adeyemi is replacing Senator Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who lost the rerun in the Kogi West senatorial election. The swearing-in was done by the Clerk of the Senate, Nelson Ayewoh, at the start of plenary. Adeyemi is returning to the Senate about five years after he lost the seat to Melaye at the 2015 election.
INEC declares Kogi West Senatorial election inconclusive
The Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday declared as inconclusive the rerun of election in Kogi West Senatorial District held on Saturday because the margin of win was less than the total cancelled votes. It said that it would later announce a date for supplementary election in the area. Newly renovated block of classroom buildings of government girls secondary school in Sarkin Noma and Lokongoma in Lokoja local government area of Kogi state which are due for commssioning this morning by Senator Dino Melaye of Kogi west, were razed down and vandalized by yet to be identified hoodlums over the night.
