Ganduje cries out to Buhari for help over COVID-19
Governor Umar Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has openly cried out to the Federal Government to come to the rescue of the state in its fight against the novel coronavirus. Governor Ganduje said, “Despite our population with less economic power than Lagos State, which is economically viable, the federal government didn’t give any support while our positive cases continue to rise.” The Governor lamented that the state was over-stretched and required urgent support from the central government. FG Reduces Petrol Price From N145 per litre to N130 per litre
The Federal Government may have directed the reduction in the petrol price from N145 per litre to about N130. Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, had last week said the government was in consultation with relevant stakeholders on the possibility of reducing the petrol price following the crash in crude oil prices in the international market. It was learned that the government may have approved the new petrol price after a presentation by Sylva to the ongoing meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) being presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Plans to borrow $22.7bn suspended – FG

Lack of policy direction by FG weakens Nigeria’s economic outlook, says World Bank
Uncertainty over the direction of the Federal Government’s policies has weakened Nigeria’s economic outlook, according to the World Bank’s January 2020 Global Economic Prospects report. The World Bank in the report projected that the Nigerian economy would grow by 2.1 per cent this year. The projected growth rate was described as ‘subdued’.
