Nigeria’s Super Falcons put on a dominant display on Friday as they swept past Zambia with a resounding 5–0 victory to reach the semi-finals of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The encounter, held in Casablanca, Morocco, saw Nigeria take charge from the outset, with defender Osinachi Ohale opening the scoring with a header just two minutes into the match.
Esther Okoronkwo made it 2–0 in the 33rd minute, capitalising on a defensive error by the Zambian backline to tap in from close range.
As halftime approached, Chinwendu Ihezuo added a third goal to firmly establish Nigeria’s control, sending the team into the break with a commanding lead.
The Falcons continued to dominate in the second half, and Tosin Demehin extended the lead further in the 69th minute, converting a set-piece with a well-placed header.
In stoppage time, Nigeria sealed their emphatic win with a fifth goal, leaving the Zambian side unable to respond.
This comprehensive win edges the Super Falcons closer to their 10th continental title, as they press on with their “Mission X” quest.
Nigeria will now face the winner of the Morocco vs. Cameroon clash in the semi-finals.
